Three Bone Theatre is assuming management of the Arts Factory in January of 2026. The Arts Factory is a participating member of the new Venue Rental Assistance program offered by the Arts & Science Council, funded by Mecklenburg County.
We are currently hiring a Venue Manager to manage the booking, the venue rental assistance grant process, and scheduling. This is a Contract position that is grant-funded through December 31, 2026.

Overview
This is an independent contractor position to manage bookings for The Arts Factory. The Venue Manager is responsible for managing the venue rental assistance, grant program, and booking and scheduling events at the venue. This role has a focus on building strong relationships in the community and maximizing venue use. The Venue Manager ensures seamless coordination between artists, property management, and theatre staff while fostering partnerships that expand access and visibility for the space.
The Venue Manager will be supported in part by Three Bone Theatre’s Production and Operations Manager and the Venue and Rental Assistance Manager at the Arts & Science Council.
The Venue Manager will work independently, managing their own schedule and project deadlines.
Statement of Work

Manage the venue rental assistance grant process and communication.

Manage the venue calendar, bookings, and event scheduling.

Proactively source and secure bookings from community groups, artists, and organizations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with renters, partners, and local stakeholders.

Serve as the main point of contact for artists, guiding them through booking and event planning.

Draft and manage rental agreements and related paperwork.

Coordinate event details, including technical support staffing and timelines, to ensure smooth operations.

Provide clear communication between clients, production teams, and internal staff.

The Contractor should bring a strong track record of administrative and event support, with the ability to deliver results that advance Three Bone Theatre’s mission and community impact.
Desired qualifications and expected outcomes include:

Bookings & Event Support – Demonstrated ability to secure and manage a set minimum number of bookings and/or community events per quarter.

Contract & Calendar Management – Proven experience managing contracts and coordinating calendars with a target of 100% accuracy in bookings and scheduling.

Budget Stewardship – Ability to track and manage event-related budgets, maintaining a variance of no more than 5% from projections.

Equity in Practice – Dedication to equity and inclusion, with a willingness to integrate Three Bone Theatre’s equity plan into all deliverables and community interactions.

Organizational Strength – Strong scheduling, documentation, and logistics management that ensures 95% of events meet internal deadlines for confirmation and preparation.

Relationship-Building – Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a balance of cultivating repeat clients and bringing in new grassroots bookings (target: 40% of bookings from new clients).

Event & Community Engagement – Experience in event coordination, venue booking, or arts/community engagement that supports mission-driven programming, measured by positive partner/client feedback and community impact.

Proactive & Independent – Capacity to work independently, anticipate needs, and take initiative without requiring supervision, while consistently meeting agreed deliverables.

Flexibility & Responsiveness – Ability to adapt to shifting needs, with demonstrated responsiveness to inquiries and changes within 48 hours and availability for regular evenings and weekends as required by the schedule of events. This position will provide technical support, such as board operation, for events when necessary.
Contract Term
Three Bone Theatre seeks to engage the Contractor beginning on January 20, 2026, and ending on December 31, 2026, unless terminated earlier by either party. The contract may be renewed for a period(s) under terms to be determined at that time.
Reports To
The Venue Manager will report to the Artistic and Operations Director. The Venue Manager will work closely with Three Bone Theatre leadership and staff, the Arts, Science, and Culture Council’s Venue and Rental Assistance program, and the Property Manager.
