Submissions for 2027 Carolina New Works Play Festival Open September 1, 2026!

In the summer of 2025, UNC Charlotte’s Department of Theatre, in partnership with Three Bone Theatre, announced the launch of the Carolina New Works Play Festival supporting North and South Carolina playwrights. Through readings, workshops, and in-depth collaborations, the Carolina New Works Play Festival (CNWPF) showcases the creative process of developing new plays.

The Charlotte New Works Play Festival is a collaboration between Three Bone Theatre and the University of North Carolina—Charlotte. CNWPF is currently accepting script submissions for its 2027 Summer season.  Submissions are open between September 1 - December 15, 2026.

What is the CNWPF looking for in a script?
We are looking for North and South Carolina playwrights. Plays must be full length and never produced. Submitting author is the sole owner of the rights. No musical submissions will be considered. Maximum of six actors.
